This 1971 Plymouth Road Runner underwent a refurbishment under previous ownership that included a repaint in green with black stripes as well as the installation of a replacement 440ci V8, an Auburn Gear limited-slip differential with 3.55:1 gears, and a remanufactured the three-speed TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission. The car was purchased by the seller in 2019, and it features a Holley Brawler four-barrel carburetor, PerTronix electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, a dual-exit exhaust with headers, power-assisted front disc brakes, a Painless Wiring harness, black vinyl upholstery, and a Retrosound stereo with Bluetooth.
The car was repainted in green with black stripes under previous ownership, and it features chrome bumpers, quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, Road Runner graphics, a rear spoiler, and a dual-exit exhaust system. Areas of paint bubbles, drips, and corrosion can be seen in the gallery below.
This is a relist after the vehicle was previously sold on BaT in September 2024 and the winning bidder failed to follow through with their commitment to purchase. This was not due to any fault with the vehicle. The winner’s participation on BaT has been restricted.
Black-painted 15″ steel wheels wear Dodge-branded hubcaps, and they are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. A spare painted Rallye wheel is stowed in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and finned rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl along with a color-coordinated dashboard, headliner, door panels, and carpeting. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard and the center console, and additional equipment includes a heater, front and rear lap belts, and a Retrosound stereo with Bluetooth connectivity.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a Road Runner-branded horn button, and it frames a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 4k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The factory ammeter is nonfunctional and an aftermarket voltmeter is installed below the dash.
The 440ci was installed under previous ownership, and features Sealed Power bearings, Trick Flow pushrods, and a Herbert CF3N camshaft as well as a Holley Brawler 750-cfm carburetor and finned Mopar Performance valve covers. Additional modifications include a Painless Wiring harness, PerTronix Ignitor III electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, and an electric cooling fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a ramanufactured three-speed TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission that was installed in 2018 as well as an Auburn Gear limited-slip differential with 3.55:1 gears. Corrosion on the underside is noted by the seller.
