This 1956 Ford Thunderbird spent time in California before being exported to Sweden in 2005. The seller purchased the car in 2023 and subsequently returned it to the US. The car has been refinished in Buckskin Tan over brown and white vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 312ci V8 paired with a three-speed Fordomatic automatic transmission. Equipment includes a body-color removable hardtop with porthole windows, a white soft top, power-assisted brakes, chrome bumpers, a rear Continental kit, and rear fender skirts.
After arriving in Sweden, the body was refinished in the factory shade of Buckskin Tan, and features include a matching removable hardtop with porthole windows, a replacement white soft top, a Thunderbird hood emblem, chrome bumpers, fender vents, auxiliary parking lights, a fixed antenna, fender skirts, and tail fins.
Body-color 15″ steel wheels wear covers and are mounted with 205/75 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial tires. A body-color Continental spare wheel assembly is accented with chrome and mounted on the rear bumper. Stopping power is supplied by power-assisted drum brakes at each corner.
The bench seat has been reupholstered in brown vinyl with white inserts, and it is accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes a floor-mounted shifter, manual windows, a vinyl drop cover, and a locking glovebox. The AM/FM radio and analog clock do not work.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and shows wear. It frames an Astra Dial instrument cluster housing a sweeping 150-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer indicates 49k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer lens is cracked.
The P-code 312ci Y-block V8 was rebuilt in 1996 and is topped with a four-barrel carburetor. It was factory rated at 225 horsepower. An oil change was performed in February 2025.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Fordomatic three-speed automatic transmission.
