This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner hardtop is said to have been refurbished and modified by the original owner in the 1990s with the installation of a 440ci V8 and a trio of two-barrel carburetors. The seller acquired the vehicle in 2001, and a refurbishment that was completed in July 2024 reportedly involved repainting the car in yellow, redoing the interior in black vinyl, rebuilding the engine and the carburetors, and replacing the wiring harness, exhaust system, brakes, wheels, and tires. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a Sure-Grip limited-slip differential, a fiberglass black scooped hood, black 15″ steel wheels, front bucket seats, a Hurst shifter, and a cassette radio.
Finished from the factory in Limelight Metallic (F5), the car was repainted in yellow during the aforementioned recent refurbishment. The black fiberglass hood features a scoop and four securing pins, and other equipment includes Road Runner graphics, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, and chrome exhaust outlets positioned below the rear bumper.
Black-painted H-series-style 15″ steel wheels were replaced during the refurbishment and are mounted with 235/60 front and 295/50 rear Diamond Back red-line tires. Braking is provided by front and rear drums, and the brakes were overhauled during the refurbishment.
The front bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered in black vinyl, and they are complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include a Hurst shifter, an aftermarket cassette stereo, rear speakers, Road Runner–branded floor mats, a heater, front and rear lap belts, and outboard front shoulder belts. The cover for the dome light is cracked.
A three-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring and a Road Runner “Beep! Beep!” center cap frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary readouts for alternator status, fuel level, and coolant temperature. A trio of Sunpro gauges for battery voltage, water temperature, and oil pressure has been fitted beneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 440ci V8 reportedly was installed during the 1990s by the car’s original owner. The engine was rebuilt in preparation for the sale along with the three two-barrel carburetors, and the wiring harness and the exhaust system and Flowmaster mufflers are said to have been replaced. The car’s chassis number indicates that it was originally powered by a 383ci V8.
Power is directed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Sure-Grip limited-slip differential.
